Security Monitoring

🛡️ Security & Protection

Ransomware can't touch your backups. Ever.

Softyz gives you three layers of active defence — immutable backup storage that ransomware cannot encrypt, real-time monitoring that watches every backup around the clock, and instant email alerts the moment anything needs your attention.

Feature 01 — Ransomware protection

Your backups are untouchable by design

Ransomware works by encrypting your files and demanding payment to restore them. Softyz breaks this model completely — because your backups are stored in immutable copies that no software running on your device, including ransomware, can ever touch, modify, or delete.

Feature 02 — Real-time backup monitoring

Every backup watched, around the clock

Softyz doesn't just back up your files — it watches over every backup, every device, every minute of every day. Your central monitoring dashboard gives you a live, real-time view of the health of your entire backup operation — across all platforms and all devices — from a single screen.

Backup success / failure per device
Know immediately which device succeeded, which failed, and exactly why with error codes and remediation steps.
Last backup time per device
See exactly when each device was last backed up and get alerted if any device goes beyond your defined backup interval.

Storage usage and growth trends
Track how your backup storage grows over time. Forecasts when you'll need more space so you're never caught off guard.
Threat and anomaly detection events
All threat detection events, blocked ransomware attempts, and suspicious activity are logged and surfaced in real time on your monitoring dashboard.
Feature 03 — Email Alerts & Notifications

Know the Moment Anything Needs Your Attention

Softyz sends you a clear, actionable email alert the instant something important happens — whether it's a failed backup, a ransomware threat, a missed device, or a storage warning. Every alert includes the full context, the impacted device, and direct action buttons so you can respond in one click.

We’re a design agency — 12 MacBooks, all running Softyz. Our creative director accidentally overwrote a final brand deliverable on a Friday afternoon. Version history had the exact right version from 2 hours earlier. Client never knew. That’s worth the entire annual subscription.

I am 71 years old and not great with technology. My grandson helped me install it. Since that one setup, I have not touched it once. My photos are backed up every day and I feel safe knowing they’re protected.

Apple Silicon native binary — it’s tiny, fast, and uses essentially no battery. I get 15 hours on my M2 Air and Softyz Inc doesn’t shave a single hour off that. The engineering quality shows. It feels like an Apple-designed app.

Common Questions

About Protection, Monitoring, and Alerts

Softyz monitors your file change rate in real time. Ransomware has a very distinctive signature — it modifies or encrypts hundreds or thousands of files in rapid succession, far faster than any normal user activity. When Softyz detects a file change rate that matches this pattern, it flags it as a potential threat isolates your immutable backup copies, and sends you an immediate alert. Your backup remains completely untouched regardless of what happens on your device.
No — this is technically impossible. All Softyz backup copies are stored as WORM (Write-Once-Read-Many) immutable objects on our servers. Immutable objects cannot be modified, overwritten, or deleted by any external software — including ransomware, admin commands, or even API calls. The backup copies can only be read or restored. Even if an attacker gained full access to your device and your Softyz account credentials, they cannot delete or encrypt your backup history.
Critical alerts — including ransomware detections, backup failures, and security events — are sent within seconds of the event occurring. In most cases, you receive the alert email within 2–5 seconds of the trigger. Warning alerts (like overdue backups or high storage) are sent within 15 minutes. Daily digest emails are sent every morning at 7:00 AM in your configured timezone. Weekly reports are sent every Sunday morning.
Yes — on Business and Enterprise plans, you can configure multiple email recipients for each alert type. You can send critical security alerts to your IT team, daily summaries to your manager, and billing alerts to your finance team. Business and Enterprise customers also have access to webhook delivery, Slack integration, and PagerDuty integration for alerts that need to integrate into your existing incident response workflow.
When you receive a ransomware alert, your Softyz backup is already safe — no action is needed to protect it. The alert email includes a direct “Restore files now” button that takes you to the Web Manager with your clean restore point pre-selected. From there, click Restore and choose whether to restore to the same device or a different one. The entire process typically takes under 15 minutes. Our 24/7 support team is also available via live chat to walk you through it in real time if needed.
Yes — all alert types can be individually enabled or disabled from Account → Notifications in your dashboard. You can disable digest emails if you prefer not to receive them, reduce the frequency of warning alerts, or turn off confirmation emails for routine restores. However, critical alerts for ransomware detections and complete backup failures are always active and cannot be fully disabled — because these are the alerts that protect your data when it matters most.
