Today we are launching the most-requested feature in Softyz Inc history. Softyz Inc Teams brings shared workspaces, Scheduled-time collaboration, granular role-based permissions, and a unified team activity dashboard to every Business and Enterprise account — available from today.
Backup was always personal. Now it’s collaborative.
Shared workspaces, real-time file access, role-based permissions, and team-wide activity monitoring – all inside the Softyz Inc platform your team already uses every day.
For the past six years, Softyz Inc has been the backup platform that individuals and businesses trust to protect their data. Everything we built – the real-time backup engine, the immutable storage architecture, the 90-day version history – was designed around a single user protecting a single set of devices.
But the way people actually work has always been more complicated than that. Teams share files. Agencies collaborate on client deliverables. IT departments manage dozens of devices across multiple departments. And until today, doing all of that inside Softyz Inc required creative workarounds that weren’t good enough.
Softyz Inc Teams changes that completely. Shared workspaces, real-time file access, granular permissions per role and per folder, and a team-wide activity dashboard are all live now – inside the same Softyz Inc platform your team already uses. No migration, no new tool, no extra passwords.
What’s new in Softyz Inc Teams
Role-based permissions in detail
The most powerful part of Softyz Inc Teams is the permissions system. Rather than giving everyone on a team the same access level, you can now configure exactly what each person can see and do – per workspace, per folder, and per file type.
| Permission | Admin | Editor | Contributor | Viewer |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| View all shared files and folders | ✔ | ✔ | ✔ | ✔ |
| Download shared files | ✔ | ✔ | ✔ | ✔ |

Real-world use cases – who is Softyz Inc Teams built for?
Design and creative agencies
Create a workspace per client. Give your designers Editor access to upload final deliverables, and give the client a Viewer link so they can download approved assets without needing a Softyz Inc account. Version history means every revision is preserved – no more “can you send the version from two weeks ago?” emails.
Small business IT teams
The team activity dashboard gives IT managers visibility across every team member’s backup status without needing access to their devices. Set backup interval alerts so you’re immediately notified if any employee’s laptop goes more than 24 hours without a backup – before a data loss event, not after.
Law firms and professional services
Create separate workspaces per matter or client engagement. Set matter-specific retention policies, give partners Admin access and associates Contributor access, and use the audit log to demonstrate chain of custody for any shared document. Legal hold at the workspace level is available on Enterprise plans.
Remote-first distributed teams
Every team member backed up automatically from wherever they work – home office, co-working space, or airport lounge. Shared workspaces give everyone access to team files from any device, anywhere. The admin dashboard shows backup health for the entire team at a glance, regardless of timezone.
“We built Softyz Inc Teams because backup should not stop at the edge of one person’s devices. A team’s data is a shared asset – and protecting it required a shared system. This is what we always wanted Softyz Inc to be.” – Rohan Kapoor, CPO, Softyz Inc.

How to set up your first team workspace – 5 steps
Open the Web Manager and navigate to Teams
Log in to app.softyzinc.com and click “Teams” in the left navigation. If you’re on the Business or Enterprise plan, you’ll see the new Teams dashboard immediately – no setup needed.
Create your first workspace
Click “New workspace”, give it a name (e.g., “Marketing Team”, “Client: Acme Corp”, “Engineering”), add a description, and choose an icon. Workspaces are instantly created – no waiting, no setup wizard.
Invite team members and assign roles
Click “Invite members”, enter email addresses, and assign a role (Admin, Editor, Contributor, or Viewer) to each person. Invited members receive an email with a join link – they can be new Softyz Inc users or existing ones.
Add shared folders and files
Click “Add to workspace” from any file or folder in your Softyz Inc backup. Choose which workspaces to share it with. You can also set folder-level permissions that override the member’s default role for that specific folder.
Set up backup alerts for your team
In the Teams dashboard, go to Settings Alerts Enable team backup monitoring. Set your backup interval (how long before you’re alerted that a member hasn’t backed up) and your notification recipients. Your workspace is live.
